Blue lab-grown diamonds are classified as “fancy” coloured diamonds that are created in a laboratory rather than mined from the earth. These diamonds are chemically and physically identical to naturally formed diamonds. Through advanced technology, scientists have developed processes that replicate the extreme pressure and temperature conditions found deep within the Earth, where natural diamonds form. The resulting diamonds possess the same hardness, brilliance, and overall physical properties as natural diamonds.
All of our blue lab-grown diamonds are certified by independent gemmological laboratories, just like natural earth-mined diamonds. Our fancy coloured lab-grown diamonds are sourced from overseas suppliers, with all listed prices inclusive of customs fees, GST, and postage — with nothing further to pay.
Blue lab-grown diamonds are typically created using either the High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT) method or the Chemical Vapour Deposition (CVD) method. Trace elements such as boron are introduced during the growth process to produce the diamond’s blue colouration. Once grown, the diamond is then cut, polished, and professionally graded. Lab-grown blue diamonds are often considered an ethical and environmentally conscious alternative to natural earth-mined blue diamonds.
Most lab-grown blue diamonds undergo some form of post-growth treatment after formation. These treatments are used to further enhance or stabilise the diamond’s colour. A diamond’s grading certificate will generally indicate whether any evidence of post-growth treatment has been detected.
Colours: Like naturally formed blue diamonds, lab-grown blue diamonds are available in a wide range of colour variations, including light blue, fancy blue, intense blue, greenish blue, and other unique colour combinations.
